Historical Background

Maa Nagnechiya Mata idol was installed in 1305 A.D. ___ by the than of khed the ruler Rao Dhuhad Ji. Rao Dhuhad Ji gave the authority to Nagnechiya Khanp of Rathores to worship Nagnechiya Mata as the ‘Kuldevi’.

He gave land on the name of ‘Kuldevi’ so that Temple can be maintained and developed with time. Over the years, Rathores established the Marwar State and the state has been presenting offerings to the Temple regularly. She is ‘Kuldevi’ of the Rathore clan and along with the Rajput community, many other sub-castes of Oswal, Rajpurohit, Ghanchi, Prajapati, Sunaar, Meghwal, Kalawant, etc also worship her as their ‘Kuldevi’.

All the communities have faith in this Temple and that is why it is one of the famous spiritual places of Marwar. Nagnechiji was called Mancha Devi in Sat Yug, Ratheshwari in Treta Yug, Pankhinidevi in Dwapar Yug, and Nagnechiya Devi in Kal Yug. Nagnechiyaji’s name became famous after being established under the Neem tree of Nagana village. Worshipping Kuldevi is a tradition that we have been following from earlier days. There isn’t a single clan in Hindu society where Kuldevi is not worshipped regularly.
